IMPORTANT CROP INSURANCE DATES ARE FAST APPROACHING
To get the full benefit from the risk management protection you’ve selected, you should collect and submit the right information on time. Please note the following important dates:
October - Final fall plant dates vary by county. Crops must be planted by the final fall plant date to maintain full coverage. Verify the final fall plant date in your county with your local FCSAmerica crop insurance specialist.
Also, in October, premium for spring-seeded federal crop insurance policies is due to the insurance company.
November - Harvest is just wrapping up. Now is the time to report your 2009 crop production so we can help you identify any potential revenue or yield losses and get claims submitted on time. Government regulations require that, in most cases, a Notice of Loss must be submitted no later than 15 days after the harvest of the unit. You should always call as soon as you think you might have a loss situation.
November 30 - This is the deadline to purchase a Pasture Rangeland Vegetation (PRF) policy. The PRF policy insures forage/pasture and is available in limited areas. Remember, to be eligible for USDA’s Supplemental Revenue Assistance Payments (SURE), Emergency Assistance for Livestock, Honey Bees, and Farm-raised Fish (ELAP) and Tree Assistance Program (TAP), all of the farming operation’s crops that are of economic significance must be covered by either crop insurance (CI) or FSA’s Noninsurable Crop Disaster Assistance Program (NAP) coverage.
