Biotechnology Endorsement Expanded

The pilot Biotechnology Endorsement (BE) was expanded for 2010 to add Colorado as eligible for some hybrids. Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin continue to have the discount available. In all these states, both irrigated and non-irrigated acreage that meets planting and hybrid requirements is eligible for 2010. The endorsement provides a premium rate reduction if you plant approved corn seed hybrids. Additional information can be found on the USDA website at www.rma.usda.gov/policies/bye.html. To be eligible for the discount, you will be required to submit all seed receipts for eligible acreage to your crop insurance agent. This includes copies of receipts for seed that may have been purchased by a tenant or landlord. Learn more about BE by calling the nearest Farm Credit Services of America office at 1-800-884-FARM.
