FCSAmerica GrowingOn Meetings Help Producers Prepare for the 2015 Crop Year

FCSAmerica hosted GrowingOn® meetings in 30 locations across Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota from December 2014 through January 2015. The purpose of the meetings was to provide information and insights to help producers plan, reduce risk and manage revenue for the upcoming crop year.

Steven Johnson, Farm and Ag Business Management Specialist with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, was the main presenter. In his “Leveraging Risk Management Tools to Manage Crop Revenue” presentation, he provided information to help producers understand the decisions they face under the new Farm Bill and how to select the options best suited to their operations. He shared estimated crop prices and costs, as well as marketing and crop insurance strategies that attendees could leverage in order to manage revenue. Bill Davis, Chief Credit Officer, and Mark Jensen, Chief Risk Officer, shared steps for managing interest rate volatility and discussed the trends in today’s farmland market. FCSAmerica crop insurance specialists presented key crop insurance changes for 2015, including the Supplemental Coverage Option (SCO), beginning farmers and ranchers’ benefits, and the interaction of crop insurance with the new commodity title programs. If you’d like more information regarding 2015 insurance changes, contact your local FCSAmerica office or call 1-800-884-FARM.
